I have an old wooden unit I will strip to original bare wood, to use for a bathroom basin.   I’d like to maintain the natural look of the wood.  Please can you advice which of your methods you would recommend  –  I do not want a shiny or lacquered look.   I had wondered if wax was the answer, but perhaps oil would be best?           I’ve already learned a lot from reading all your information; what a brilliant source for help!!

Hello Karen.
Your repurposed wood will need better protection than just wood oil as bathroom basins often come in contact with water.
My recommendation would be to use a good stain and selaer like this one by Ready Seal which will allow you to achieve a natural look with good protection since you don’t want a lacquered look.
If you want to use wood oil you can use this one by Sunnyside.
