Hi I’m painting small wooden dolls with acrylic paints. I have found non toxic child approved acrylics but now I need to find something to give them a shine and be safe if a child should put it in their mouths!!
Hope you can , or point me in the right direction.
Thanks Amanda

Hi Amanda,
it’s great that you make wooden dolls, wood is a much better material for children than plastic 🙂
Did your paint supplier also offer transparent coatings? You can ask him, there is usually a full range of products. It is good to use products from the same brand.
You can use shellac, it is harmless, you can even use wooden elements that are in contact with food.
I’m not sure how it will stick to the paint, so it’s good to test it in advance. This product by Rust Oleum is also suitable for toys or this one.
