We have a very large wood carved eagle which was carved from a massive tree trunk, it came from Indonesia. The wool has dried out and lost it brightness. Could you recommend a product that would protect and bring out the veins of the work of art. Thank you.

Hello Kathy.
Depends on what look you want, you can use tung oil which provides a beautiful finish:
Saturate your piece, let it soak for 10 minutes, and then wipe it dry. This treatment should be repeated three or four times over three or four days, with a 24-hour gap between layers.
Urethanes and poly finishes are available in high gloss, semi-gloss, and matte finishes can also be used for wood carvings. I believe they give the wood carving a stark, hard appearance when contrasted to the softer oils.
