Pews

David asked 3 years ago

We have a lot of church pews that have an old walnut finish from 1966. Most have areas where the finish and stain are pretty much gone. To refinish: We were planning on lightly hand sanding. We’d like to use a water based stain and seal. What would you suggest?

Hi David,
I like the General Finishes offering for walnut, it’s got low odor for indoor use such as yours (get on Amazon: https://geni.us/diBCYyH).
Once dry, I’d seal it with the Minwax Polycrylic Protective Wood Finish. It comes in matte, semi-gloss, and gloss depending on your preference (get on Amazon: https://geni.us/UA2zuh1).
