I obtained some ‘free’ maple wood that was intended for fire wood that has lain on the ground too long. It’s punky and has spalted. I want to use it to make coasters using epoxy resin and wood. I was wondering if anyone knows of a hardening product that makes it Suitable for this to happen? Any advice would be welcome. Thanks.

Minwax hardener can do a good job for you, it penetrates deep and will strengthen the wood in depth. The resin will then further strengthen the wood.
